I wanted to pass along the good news that Kristi Senek at our Water Reclamation Plant was selected by the Ohio Water Environment Association for the 2016 Laboratory Analyst Award.
The City has so many employees, like Kristi, that do great work for Kent but their jobs are rarely known outside their offices — which is why it’s great to have Kristi recognized by her peers in northeast Ohio for her excellent work.
In related news, Kent is proud to be hosting the next meeting of the Northeast Ohio section of the Water Environment Association. Featuring tours of our water and water reclamation plants and information sessions at the KSU Hotel, we’re proud to show off our utility plants and downtown Kent for the day.
It’s easy to forget that in the early 1900’s more people died from dysentery than anything else which is why I always tell people that with all due respect to Police and Fire, the city’s water and water reclamation plant employees have saved more lives than any employees on the city payroll.
Thankfully they do their job so well, we don’t even think about it — until places like Flint Michigan make headlines and remind us how grateful we should be that our utility employees work around the clock to make sure we’re never end up in those headlines.
