To quote the Project Manager “Wahoo! Wahoo! Wahoo!” On Friday the final occupancy permit was issued for the new Police Station.
The Police employees were allowed to start moving in under the temporary occupancy permit last month but nothing says a project is done like having the Chief Building Official sign off on the final occupancy permit which Chief Lee can now proudly frame and hang in the new building.
Completing a project as big as this project, with so may extra layers of security complexity from housing a jail, is a big deal so it’s a proud moment for the team of people that have taken this building from a dream on paper to real live bricks and mortar. Well done.
There’s a folder full of reasons that the project took a couple of months longer than originally anticipated to wrap-up but it came in under budget which was the biggest priority from the beginning to the end — so please forgive the happy dance that is likely going on over in the Budget and Finance Office.
Still waiting on AT&T to flip the switch on the dispatch center communication lines but that doesn’t hold up a building permit so we can cross construction off the “to do” list for good.
Wahoo is right.
