I didn’t look up the exact dates but the leadership at the Presbyterian Church on Summit Street have been talking about adding student housing to their property on Summit Street for a good 3 years.
It’s essentially on the Kent State campus so it’s location makes a lot of sense but it’s not the biggest site in the world so fitting another building on that property feels a little bit like threading a needle.
But they’re game so we’re waiting to see what comes next.
In the meantime we got a heads-up from Kent State that they recently received an email from the construction company that was hired by the developer of the Church property indicating that they are getting ready to mobilize and initiate construction on the new student housing project which will be called “The Residences at 1456 E. Summit Street.”
The actual permits, bonds and various construction documents have not come through the City yet but maybe they’re coming soon?
In case you don’t recall, the project plans to add approximately 380 beds to the student housing market.
