Just a quick heads up. On Tuesday May 5th you’ll probably want to avoid driving down Main Street — at least between 7 am and 5 pm as the City will be repaving the travel lanes between Water Street and Depeyster. For those that can’t avoid it, we’re still planning to keep traffic flowing as best as possible by diverting all the traffic to the parking areas which means if you were planning to shop downtown on Tuesday you’ll have to park in one of the back lots since on-street parking will be prohibited to allow the paving work to be completed. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Here’s the official City press release on the street work:
MAIN STREET WILL HAVE NO PARKING ON EITHER SIDE OF THIS SECTION OF DOWNTOWN KENT BETWEEN WATER STREET AND DEPEYSTER STREET. TRAFFIC WILL BE MAINTAINED THROUGH THE PARKING AREA Tuesday, May 5, 2009 FROM 7:00AM UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 5:00PM **IF IT RAINS, WORK MAY BE DELAYED UNTIL THE NEXT DAY**
TO ALLOW FOR REPAVING OF THE STREET, PARKING WILL BE CLOSED ON BOTH SIDES OF MAIN STREET BETWEEN WATER STREET AND DEPEYSTER STREET. TRAFFIC WILL BE MAINTAINED THROUGH THE PARKING AREAS ON TUESDAY, MAY 5, 2009 FROM 7:00AM UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 5:00PM. MOTORISTS ARE ASKED TO AVOID THE AREA AND TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL TRAVEL TIME WHEN LEAVING FOR THEIR DESTINATION.
ALL LOCAL BUSINESSES WILL REMAIN OPEN AS USUAL.
