I saw a short write up in the weekly Police file reporting that Kent was notified by the Ohio Traffic Safety Office of the Department of Public Safety (OPDS) last week that we are one of twenty police departments in Ohio chosen to participate in the Patrol Car Give-Away at the Attorney Generals’ Conference in Columbus Wednesday, September 15th.
ODPS advised that Kent’s Police Department was selected because of “outstanding involvement in the 2009 ‘Click It or Ticket’ and ‘Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest.’ National Traffic Enforcement Campaigns. There will be five new cruisers given away on Wednesday that will be determined by a drawing of vehicle keys. Captain Urchek will represent the Kent Police Department for the drawing.
Let’s hope that the luck of the Irish is still in the air in Kent after last weekend’s Irish Festival and Kent wins a new patrol car.
