City Council will be taking a second vote on whether or not to accept a $2.4 million offer on the City Admin buildings (appraised at $1.2 million) on Wednesday night. The first vote passed 5-3 in favor of selling the 60 year old buildings.
Council and the City staff have been looking at the sale of this property for about a year but after the developer doubled his original purchase price those talks got a lot more interesting.
If Council ends up agreeing to accept the offer, the staff will have to get busy securing a temporary location for about 20 employees (myself included) until Council decides where they would like to see City Hall be located permanently.
There’s still a lot of moving parts and this could go in any number of different directions but here’s the next steps as we know them right now —
Given the first vote in favor of the sale, we’ve had to start to get a lot more serious about our temporary relocation options. Certainly the deal isn’t done but if it is approved there’s an expectation that we need to have a couple of good alternatives for Council to consider for our temporary home.
