Akron Children’s hospital offered us a special spring flower public art piece for downtown Kent and we were delighted to accept it.
It’s located between the KSU Hotel Conference Center and the PARTA building on Erie Street.
Hopefully this is the first of many more public art pieces that will pop up around downtown. After the positive reception from our “artistic” bike racks downtown a small group of local art volunteers started meeting and working with the City and Kent State University to find ways to make public art contagious and spread all over town.
Like most things, the first step is finding some funding to underwrite public art and we’ve submitted a couple of grant requests to help implement some of the pieces of the Kent Master Plan for Public Art.
In the meantime, we’re grateful for public art donations like our latest spring flower from Akron Children’s Hospital.
